The Website

I've given the main site an overhaul. After years of convincing myself that it was still a useful skill to be able to design and edit a page in raw HTML, I've gone over to Tripod's web generating template and editing tool.

I still need to transfer some content back over, but anything really essential will eventually migrate to the revamped site.

It's occurred to me that I need to reinstate the House of Suns excerpts, but I won't have time to do that until I return from Sweden.

Hi Al,

Not exactly connected to this topic, but what can you tell about Gollancz publishing Zima Blue in April '09? I saw something about that on the Fantastic Fiction site...

Cheers,

Max

Ah, finally I can post a comment...

It is unusual for an author to do publicity in Sweden. Do you have a big following there?

I go to Sweden every so often on holiday (I have family there). I generally run out of reading material so have to go to bookshops. Invariably they do have an English language section but it tends not to have much in the way of sf. The Swedes seem to prefer crime and thrillers.

Hi Max

Orion will certainly be doing Zima Blue in 2009, but I wouldn't believe any schedule you see at the moment. It will depend on when the next novel is scheduled to appear, which I would say is still somewhat undecided. If ZB appears in spring, then that would push the novel into the autumn, and vice versa.

The UK edition will include Minla's Flowers, the third Merlin Story, in addition to the complete contents of the US edition.

Hi Peter

My books do reasonably well in Sweden, but I suspect most of those copies bought originate in the SF Bookshop, which has branches in Stockholm, Gothenberg and Malmo. I visited a few general bookstores and saw little or no SF, either translated or in English.

I'm a big fan of Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell. But then, who isnt...

Hi there! I'm really happy I found your site -- I just finished reading Pushing Ice, which I loved, and I wondered if there was a sequel (still haven't found the answer, but I have a feeling there isn't).

A bit of googling and here I am. I'm amazed that Tripod still exists! And they provide a blog tool, too -- wow. I've been online for about 10 years now (even made a job out of it) and I really, really thought Tripod would have been long gone. Well, what can I say: your site is fine, and it's really great to be able to read your blog.

I'm going to go back to hunting for my answer, and in any case, you can be sure I'm going to be ordering more of your books shortly. Cheers!

Hi Stephanie

There isn't a sequel to Pushing Ice, no. But I hope to write more in that universe one day.

Tripod's tools are quite clunky, but to be fair, they've been reliable enough - very few outages since I started using them. If it ain't broke...
